Virus Transport Medium
 

Introduction: This product is used for collecting and transporting clinical virus samples.

Principle: Viral transport media consists of a modified Hanks balanced salt solution supplemented with bovine serum albumin, cysteine, sucrose, and glutamate. The pH of the medium was buffered with HEPES buffer, and phenolic red was used to indicate pH. Vancomycin, amphotericin B and polymyxin were added to the medium to inhibit the growth of competing bacteria and yeast. The medium is isotonic and non-toxic to mammalian host cells. The presence of sucrose and glycerin can be used as antifreeze, and freezing the sample (-70 °C) can extend the storage time and help preserve the virus.

Main components: Hanks balance salt, phenol red, bovine serum albumin, L-cysteine, L-glutamic acid, HEPES, vancomycin, amphotericin B, polymyxin E, sucrose, glycerin.

Storage conditions and expiry date: Store at 2-25 ºC, valid for 12 months; transported at 2-30 ºC for 5 days, the product remains stable.

Usage:
 Type I:
1.Collect samples with swab according to sampling requirements;
2.Place the swab after sample collection into the sterile sampling tube;
3.Break off the swab at the easy break point of the swab rod and discard the tail;
4.Tighten the lid of aseptic sampling tube ;
5.Label the aseptic sampling tube with the required information;
6.Send samples to the laboratory for immediate analysis.
Type II:
1.Pull out the medium storage tube with swab;
2.Collect samples with swab, and insert the swab back into the sample processing tube as soon as possible after sampling, and the sample processing tube and the culture medium storage tube should be closed at the clasp. The swab sampling end should completely enter the bottom of the sample processing tube;
3. After inserting the swab back into the sample processing tube, place the device vertically with medium storage tube facing up;
4. Break the root of the adapter tube through the wall of the medium storage tube, squeeze the storage tube so that the medium flows into the bottom of the sample processing tube and soak the swab sampling end;
5. Label the aseptic sampling tube with the required information;
6. Send samples to the laboratory for immediate analysis.
Type III:
1. Pull out the medium storage tube with swab;
2. Collect samples with swab, and insert the swab back into the sample processing tube as soon as possible after sampling, and the sample processing tube and the culture medium storage tube should be closed at the clasp. The swab sampling end should completely enter the bottom of the sample processing tube;
3. After inserting the swab back into the sample processing tube, place the device vertically with the medium storage tube facing up;
4. Hold the junction of the medium storage tube, rotate the medium storage tube anticlockwise, squeeze the medium into the bottom of the sample processing tube and soak the swab sampling end;
5. Label the aseptic sampling tube with the required information;
6. Send samples to the laboratory for immediate analysis.
