Description
Tilmicosin is a macrolide antibiotic. It is used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of bovine respiratory disease and bovine respiratory disease associated with Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica.
Tilmicosin phosphate is a salt of the semi-synthetic antibiotic derivative of desmycosin (tylosin B), a minor co-metabolite of tylosin, prepared by mixing the active tilmicosin with phosphoric acid to provide improved solubility and enhanced pharmacokinetics. Tilmicosin is a broad sepctrum antibiotic, providing good protection against Pasteurella in livestock.
Tilmicosin is absorbed orally and subcutaneously, but not completely. The apparent distribution volume was high and the drug concentration in lung tissue was high. With good tissue penetration, can quickly and completely from the blood into the breast, milk drug concentration is high, maintaining a long time, the half-life of milk up to 1--2 days.
Inhibition of gram positive bacteria and some gram negative bacteria, mycoplasma, spirochetes have antibacterial activity; has stronger than tylosin on Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, pasteurella.
Tilmicosin is not static, once a cow can be killed by intravenous injection of 5mg/kg, pigs, horses and primates are also easy to death, the toxic effect of the target organ is the heart, can cause negative effects on the heart.
